Acworth Red Cross Blood Drive

The Acworth Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a blood drive in Cauble Park. The February 12, 2010 event begins at 12:00 pm and goes until 5:00 pm. Georgia blood supplies are currently critically low, and Georgia is currently importing blood from other states and the national inventory at the Red Cross. Your donation can help save up to three lives.

Taste of Acworth

Taste of Acworth

The Fifth Annual Taste of Acworth takes place in historic downtown Acworth on Saturday, October 17th 2009 from 10am to 6pm. The event benefits local schools and charities and features 150 area restaurants and businesses.

In addition to the great food, there will be two stages providing live entertainment throughout the day including the fun fashion show at noon and dog show at 3pm. The event also includes a kid zone featuring inflatables, a quad bungee, and challenging games.

Admission:
Free, food samples range from $1 to $3.

Parking:
Parking will be available throughout town with shuttles running from the McCall Primary School , Acworth Methodist Church , and Acworth First Baptist Church.

“Eye Help People See” Charity Golf Tournament

Eye Help People See

Eye Help People See (EHPS) is hosting a Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, November 2, 2009 at Bentwater Golf Course in Acworth. The annual charity tournament features a shotgun, scramble start and there will prizes for the Winning Teams as well as for Hole-in-One, Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive and Longest Putt. There will also be a Stroke of Sight Putting Contest and the tournament will be followed by a raffle and awards ceremony. Lunch will be served at 11am and Tee Time is at noon.

The PGA Tour Superstore is sponsoring the event and other sponsorship options are available. The event organizers are currently seeking golfers, hole sponsors, raffle donations, and goodie bag gifts. Donations are tax deductible and all proceeds benefit Eye Help People See and the visually impaired.

About EHPS:
EHPS actively campaigns and fund raises to assist and support the visually impaired with the cost of medication, treatment and transplants. The organization hosts events throughout the year to raise awareness and funds.

Love the Lake Festival

Acworth Love the Lake Festival

The Acworth Love the Lake Festival takes place on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7 2009. The Labor Day weekend festival takes place at Cauble Park in downtown Acworth and features over 150 arts & crafts vendors as well as 30 food vendors, ski exhibitions, tropical bird show, and live entertainment. There is also a large kids zone featuring inflatables, bungee rides, and a rock climbing wall.

Love the Lake Festival Parade
The festival begins with the Love the Lake Festival Parade at 9am. The parade begins at Acworth First Baptist Church and goes south on Main St. to Cowan Rd.

The festival begins after the parade at 10am and continues until the Love the Lake Concert.

Love the Lake Concert Schedule:
September 5th at 6pm – Parrot Island Band (a Jimmy Buffet tribute band)
September 5th at 8pm – Wanna Beens (favorites from the 60s, 70s, and 80s)

Fourth of July Celebration

Acworth 4th of July Fireworks

On July 4th, 2009, the City of Acworth and the Acworth Business Association are hosting an Independence Day celebration at Cauble Park. The celebration features live music starting at 4pm with the headline act Flashback starting at 8pm. At 9:30pm, watch as the best fireworks show in Cobb County takes place over Lake Acworth. Food and drinks will be available from vendors.

Admission:
The concert is free to the public, and tables for 6 are available for an additional fee.

Parking:
Parking is available at City Hall, Acworth First Baptist Church, and the Post Office. There will be a shuttle running from these locations beginning at 2pm.

Dixie Highway Yard Sale

Dixie Highway Yardsale

The 90 mile Dixie Highway Yardsale is an annual event that spans ninety miles from Marietta to Acworth and on through North Georgia. This yard sale is also a historic driving tour along the Dixie Highway. In fact, one of the frequently purchased items is a souvenir version of the Dixie Highway road sign. In addition to the yard sale event, organizers in each area are promoting everything the communities have to offer throughout the year. The yardsale is on June 5, June 6, and June 7, 2009 and begins at 8am on each day. There are plenty of great restaurants along the route, and signs will be in place to direct you to the yard sales. Acworth Classic Car Show

Acworth Classic Car Cruise

The Acworth Classic Car Cruise takes place in Historic Downtown Acworth on Saturday, May 29 from 4pm to 10pm. The car show features everything from Chevy Chevelles to Model T Fords. Over 200 automobiles will be on display on Main Street between Lemon St and Morningside Dr. Admission is free to the general public.

If you would like to display your car, no registration is required and a $1 charity donation is requested. All donated funds go to support the Horizon Field special needs athletic program at the Acworth Sports Complex. Although there is space for up to 250 cars, it is suggested that you arrive between 3pm and 4pm if you would like to enter your vehicle and ensure you get a good parking spot.

Merchants in Downtown Acworth will remain open during the event so visitors can also enjoy some shopping or dining at a great Acworth restaurant.

Acworth Family Fun Day

The Acworth Family Fun day is a special day filled with games and activities for everyone to enjoy. Bring a picnic, a fisning pole, or a kite and spend the day relaxing at Logan Farm Park. Acworth Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday, March 27, 2010, the Easter Bunny will hide over ten thousand eggs at Cauble Park in Acworth, Georgia.  The Easter Egg Hunt will include eggs filled with toys or candy as well as special golden eggs redeemable for prizes.  Children twelve and under are invited to participate in the hunt which starts at 10:00am sharp.  All eggs will be found within the first few minutes so don’t be late.  After the hunt, the Easter Bunny will be available for pictures. Acworth Daddy Daughter Dance

The annual Daddy Daughter Dance, hosted by the Acworth Parks and Recreation Dept, begins at 7pm on Febuary 6 at North Cobb High School. This year’s theme is At the Hop. Break out the poodle
skirts and leather jackets as you spend a special evening with dance, fun and games for the dads and daughters to enjoy.

The event is open to all girls up to age 13, and the fee is $25 for Acworth residents and $35 for non-city residents. Additional daughters are $10 for City of Acworth residents and $15 for non-city residents each. Refreshments will be served and a DJ will be providing music. Optional photos will also be available for purchase.
