Acworth’s annual Daddy Daughter Dance takes place on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 7-9pm, at the North Cobb High School Cafeteria. This year the theme is “A Mad Hatter Tea Party”.

The Queen has invited all girls 13 years of age and younger escorted with their Dad or adult male escort to take a trip through the rabbit hole and visit Wonderland for a very special tea party. Recommended attire is tea party dresses for the girls and jackets for the dads, and mad hatter hats are highly encouraged!

This dance is a great opportunity for dads and their daughters to spend a special evening together. A DJ will be providing music for the “couples” to dance the night away, as well as games for the dads and daughters to enjoy. This event is open to all girls age 13 and younger.

On Friday, December 9, 2011, festivities continue with the Dickens of A Christmas Ya’ll Historic Homes Caroling Tour from 6pm to 8pm. Meet at the Depot for this historic homes caroling tour.

On Saturday, December 10, children will have the opportunity to visit with Santa Claus and have their photo taken with him at Frana Brown Park from 10am to 3pm.

The 3rd Annual Acworth Turkey Chase 5K Fun Run & 2K Walk takes place on Saturday, November 19, 2011. Enjoy an exhilarating 5K run through Historic Downtown Acworth and along the shores of beautiful Lake Acworth. Walk, jog, or run, participants of all ages and abilities are welcome. All participants must bring a non-perishable food item on race day to receive their race number and Acworth Turkey Chase t-shirt. Southeastern Greyhound Adoption (SEGA) will hold a Meet & Greet at Acworth’s, Love the Lake Festival. Located at Lake Acworth’s Cauble Park, Beach Street on the North side of Lake Acworth in Downtown Acworth, GA. These events are a wonderful way to meet Greyhounds up close and talk to their owners about the joys of adopting an ex-racer. Meet & Greets are hosted by SEGA volunteers who typically bring their own pets. Contrary to popular belief, Greyhounds do not need excessive amounts of exercise but, in fact, are gentle and very laid-back dogs that make excellent pets for all types of families. SEGA is an organization that places Greyhounds into homes after their racing careers have ended. The mission of SEGA is to find good permanent homes for former racing Greyhounds and to educate the public about why Greyhounds make good pets.
