Acworth Red Cross Blood Drive

The Acworth Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a Red Cross blood drive in Cauble Park. The February 17, 2012 event begins at 10am and goes until 3pm. Donors can just show up to donate, or email Jeff Chase to set up an appointment.

Acworth Daddy Daughter Dance

Acworth’s annual Daddy Daughter Dance takes place on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 7-9pm, at the North Cobb High School Cafeteria. This year the theme is “A Mad Hatter Tea Party”.

The Queen has invited all girls 13 years of age and younger escorted with their Dad or adult male escort to take a trip through the rabbit hole and visit Wonderland for a very special tea party. Recommended attire is tea party dresses for the girls and jackets for the dads, and mad hatter hats are highly encouraged!

This dance is a great opportunity for dads and their daughters to spend a special evening together. A DJ will be providing music for the “couples” to dance the night away, as well as games for the dads and daughters to enjoy. This event is open to all girls age 13 and younger.

Admission for two is $25 for City of Acworth residents or $35 for non-city residents. Additional daughters are $15.00 each. Registration is available online at:

Dickens of A Christmas Ya’ll


On Saturday, December 3, 2011, Acworth is hosting the Dickens of A Christmas Ya’ll Christmas Celebration. The event features photos with Santa at Frana Brown Park (Main Street) from 10am to 3pm as well as Victorian Kids crafts, games, stories and shows at the Kid Zone on Senator Russell Avenue. Other activities include breakfast and High Tea with Father Christmas, Merchant Holiday Specials and “How-To” Demonstrations, and Holiday Feasting at Downtown Restaurants

On Friday, December 9, 2011, festivities continue with the Dickens of A Christmas Ya’ll Historic Homes Caroling Tour from 6pm to 8pm. Meet at the Depot for this historic homes caroling tour.

On Saturday, December 10, children will have the opportunity to visit with Santa Claus and have their photo taken with him at Frana Brown Park from 10am to 3pm.

Christmas Celebration with Santa

It’s that special time again! Santa will be stopping at the Depot in Downtown Acworth on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 6:30pm to 9pm. There will be a host of performances to help Santa kickoff the holiday season.

Bring the entire family to hear Mayor Tommy Allegood read The Night Before Christmas and watch the lighting of the Tree on Main Street.

Enjoy pictures with Mr. & Mrs. Claus, eating candy canes with all his elves, and filling the streets with the holiday spirit.

Arrive at the Depot at 5:15pm to schedule your picture time with Santa and Mrs. Claus, pictures begin at 6:45pm. Time slots for pictures are limited so arrive early to schedule your picture time.

Veterans Day Ceremony

Join the City of Acworth on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 2pm at Patriots Point at Cauble Park, home of the Veterans Memorial to honor our nations veterans.

The City of Acworth would like to say thank you to those who have faithfully served their country as well as those who are now serving. Acworth is honored to have these brave men and women living in our community and what better way to honor them than to host a Veterans Day Ceremony.

If you have not seen the Veterans Memorial at Patriot’s Point at Cauble Park, make sure you visit on Friday, November 11, 2011. The service flags of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Cost Guard surround the American Flag. The concrete dome structure is surrounded by a paver walkway with engraved pavers.

Citywide Recycling Day

The City of Acworth Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to participate in the next Computer, Electronics and Metal Recycling Day at the Library Parking Lot in Downtown Acworth. This event occurs twice a year, on a Saturday, during May and November from 8am to 5pm. The next Recycling Day will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2011.

Most all materials made primarily of metal will be accepted, from aluminum cans to electronic items, even something as large as a washing machine will be recycled. The city along with Federal Recyclers wants you to Think Green! Look around your house for any unwanted items that you can bring to recycle so they do not end up in a landfill.
