The Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department hosted the annual Mother-Son Camp Out at Proctor Landing Park on Saturday, September 19, 2020. This event was open to mothers and their sons, 13 and under.
From the event organizers, “Due to COVID-19 precautions, we will be implementing social distancing measures during camp activities and during dining periods. All staff members will be required to wear a mask when interacting with campers. Although face coverings are not required for campers, we do encourage campers to wear face coverings during group activities if able. Hand sanitizing stations will be present throughout the event.”
Participants will camp alongside the beautiful Lake Allatoona while learning about camping etiquette, campfire building, knot tying and a variety of other outdoor activities.
The event begins at 1 pm with check in and campsite set up. Dinner will be provided, as well as breakfast the following morning. The mother-son pair will be responsible for providing their own snacks and camping equipment. Not an experienced camper? No worries! They will have experienced volunteers available to assist with setting up each campsite.
