The City of Acworth will host Concert on the Green: A Juneteenth Celebration at Logan Farm Park, honoring the history and meaning of Juneteenth with an evening of live music, food, and fun times on the lawn.
Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced freedom for enslaved people there, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. The Acworth event recognizes that date with a public celebration centered on freedom, respect, and culture.
The event opens at 5 pm, giving guests time to grab food and refreshments, spread out a blanket, and claim a good patch of grass before the music starts. Live music by Bogey and the Viceroy is scheduled from 7 to 9 pm, which means dinner, a lawn chair, and a little dancing are all on the table. Sensible shoes never hurt either.
Limited seating will be available, so guests are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs. Admission is free.
