City Government

The City of Acworth has a Mayor, a Board of Aldermen, and a City Manager. The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Acworth. The role of the mayor is to preside at meetings of the Board of Aldermen and vote on issues in the case of a tie. The Mayor also signs deeds and contracts, cosigns checks, calls meetings of the board, executes city ordinances, and appoints members to committees. The Board of Aldermen determines city policies, adopts city ordinances, approves the budget, sets the millage rate, and supervises the City Manager. The City Manager carries out the day-to-day executive duties for the City of Acworth.

Water Services

Acworth receives its drinking water from the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority. Water for the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority comes from two locations; the Wyckoff Treatment Division, supplied by Lake Allatoona, and the Quarles Treatment Division, supplied by the Chattahoochee River. Acworth’s drinking water is delivered to residents by the Cobb County Water System. In addition to providing water to the residents of Acworth, the Cobb County Water System provides water to more than 495,000 people in the unincorporated portions of Cobb County and Kennesaw.

Water Restriction Information:
Residents of Acworth, Cobb County, and throughout the state of Georgia must follow the Georgia Department of Natural Resources year-round outdoor water use restrictions. The restrictions state that residents may hand water landscapes for twenty-five minutes from midnight to 10 am. Even and unnumbered addresses may water on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
